You can connect and disconnect without opening the app.
Widget on iPhone and iPad
On iOS 17 or later, add the Cosmos Client widget to the Home Screen.
- Status — the “VPN” capsule: white — connected, semi-transparent — connecting, gray — off. Next to it, the country flag, if the server reports it.
- Button at the bottom — Connect or Disconnect.
- ↻ — when VPN is on: reconnect with the freshest settings.
- No profile — the widget offers Add: the app opens on adding a profile.
Shortcuts and Siri
On iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or later, Cosmos has three shortcuts: Turn On VPN, Turn Off VPN and Reconnect VPN. You’ll find them in Spotlight, the Shortcuts app, Siri and on the Action button. Siri answers by the result: “VPN is on.” — only once VPN has actually connected.
Tray and menu bar on a computer
On Windows and Linux, the Cosmos icon is in the tray; on Mac, in the menu bar. Its color shows the VPN status. The menu has Open, Connect or Disconnect, and Quit; on Windows and Linux, clicking the icon opens the window right away.
Closing the window hides it to the tray, and the app keeps running. Quit closes the app but doesn’t turn VPN off — use Disconnect for that.
Launch at login on a computer
The Cosmos tab has two switches:
- Launch app at login — Cosmos starts when you sign in, straight to the tray, without a window. On by default.
- Auto-connect — right after launching at login, connect to the active profile. Off by default and works only while launch at login is on.
